

He grew up in Cleveland playing in a Polish polka band where, he says, “I had to think fast on my feet. His celebrity is confirmed by having won several important competitions, including the Montreux Jazz Festival Guitar Competition. He dazzles audiences wherever he goes, resulting in exuberant standing ovations and claims of “the world’s best guitarist” in many published concert reviews. His style is a fusion of jazz, bossa nova and classical, and he performs with an impeccable sense of rhythm and enormous emotion. He is from Sao Paulo, and he effortlessly brings a Brazilian flair to his performances. Diego is one of the world’s great guitarists, having released over twenty CDs and having played in more than 60 countries around the world. This time he will be joined by his long-time collaborator Ken Peplowski. He appeared at Jazz at Domus Fare just before the pandemic, and many in the audience raved about the experience and requested his return.

¯ Special event, with a higher admission price, May 11 - Diego Figueiredo, guitar, and Ken Peplowski, clarinet and saxophone Diego Figueiredo is a Brazilian guitarist with samba and bossa nova in his blood. At Domus Fare, Marko will be joined by Nick Weiser on piano and Kieran Hanlon on bass. For the past ten years, he has been touring and recording with saxophonist Dave Liebman. The list of musicians that Marcinko has had the chance to write for, perform with, and interact with is long and varied. This format opened the door for his current role: Director of Jazz Studies at Penn State University. The Jazz Alliance offered master classes and week-long music workshops for students of all ages and levels. Marcinko, always interested in education, started an organization called the PA Jazz Alliance, dedicated to presenting great jazz and providing music training to those who deserved it but may not otherwise have access to it. As he entered his career, he soon became a composer, arranger and drummer for the Maynard Ferguson’s Big Band, and he toured the world with this group. Percussionist Marko Marcinko was a young star of the jazz ensembles of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where he also learned to compose and arrange from many leading jazz educators. Behind these front-line instrumentalists will be The Nick Weiser Trio: Nick Weiser, piano Kieran Hanlon, bass John Bacon, drums. At Domus Fare, Gardner will appear with saxophonist Elliot Scozzaro, who coordinated the effort to bring Gardner to Fredonia for a short residency at the university.
